She was born into the family of African, Irish, French and Louisiana Creole descents – her parents are Mike and Monique O’Grady, both having a strong interest in the performing arts. Brittany’s mother participated in various pageants, and was even titled Miss District of Columbia when she was around 16 years old, so Brittany inherited her mother’s passion for performing on stage, dancing and acting.

Brittany’s father, Mike, is an experienced musician who plays the sax and does a lot of charity events to help people with financial aid. However, Brittany started acting professionally at the age of four, when she was invited to become the face of the “National Food Program”. Along with modelling, she continued acting and participating in various projects.

Brittany’s debut in a theater production outside of her school was in the part of Cindi in “12 Dancing Princesses” at Encore Stage and Studio Theatre, at the age of 10. She still remembers this to be one of her most exciting experiences, as she is still in touch with many cast members as they became friends those times. While in school, she enjoyed playing the Fiancée in “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” produced by Synetic Theater, as it helped her to develop her acting skills on stage. Also at 10 years of age, she performed in “The Witches of Eastwick” produced by Signature Theater. She admitted that she felt strong support from the Arlington community, and it helped her to believe in herself and express herself artistically.

After her matriculation from high school Brittany started considering major roles in various TV shows and theatre plays. Thus in 2014 Brittany appeared as a guest star in “Trophy Wife” produced by ABC, and was invited to participate in the “Tabloid” aired on Investigation Discovery, which is a show hosted by Jerry Springer. She was then cast as Alicia in the TV series “The Night Shift” (2014 – 2017), and concurrently in “The Messengers” (2015) in which she played the role of Nadia, and later performed the role of Georgia Beale in the film “Above Suspicion” (2019). She likes to accept invitations from various talk shows, such as “Wendy: The Wendy Williams Show”, “Entertainment Tonight”, “The Real” and “FOX Fall Preview”. Brittany also participated in multiple performances at The White House, and at the Kennedy Center.

The “Star” series

Brittany’s most notable work was her participation in the “Star”, series which was launched in December 2016, sharing the screen with the legendary Queen Latifah, experienced drama actress Jude Demorest, and Ryan Destiny, a young actress and artist. The series tells the story of two sisters who found each other after being separated from a young age, and their pursuing the dreams of becoming professional performers. Brittany sang several songs, which were written and recorded exclusively for the series, such as “I Can Be” and “I Bring Me”. Even though the series now has three seasons, critics haven’t been so positive about the plot and actors’ performances.

Queen Latifah’s acting was beyond praise, but other members of the cast were blamed for mediocrity, and the plot was too stereotypic, clichéd and poor. It is known that the third season was the last one launched on TV; however, in July 2019 the screenwriter of the series, Lee Daniels, announced that the series will end with a finale two-hour movie which is planned to be out in 2020. The announcement is still unconfirmed as neither Fox Entertainment nor 20th Century Fox TV have agreed yet. It is worth saying that despite low ratings, the series featured many guest celebrities, such as Missy Elliott, who played the role of a legendary rapper Pumpkin, Lenny Kravitz, Teyana Taylor, Tasha Smith and many others.

Since 2015, Brittany has been in a romantic relationships with Ben Huyard, an advertising director of Pepperdine University Graphic Media, both often sharing mutual photos on their Instagram accounts, not hiding their relationship. In April 2019 Ben graduated from Pepperdine University and also participated in an interview made for his University’s study of gendered behavior and stereotypical ideas of masculinity.
