He is perhaps best known to the world for his presence on the TV screen over the course of two years in National Geographic Channel’s reality TV series entitled “The Legend of Mick Dodge”. He has apparently had some other successes at earlier points in his life, though not too many details are available about his employment. He has been active in the sometimes lucrative reality TV business since 2014.

Is he still alive?

Even though Mick hasn’t been seen on TV for nearly three full years, he is closely followed by National Geographic Channel’s production teams, which means that the public would be promptly notified in the case of his passing. Hence, Mick Dodge is alive and well, though for unspecified reasons he is keeping away from the cameras for the time being. That said, it doesn’t look as though the end date for his show has been set, which means we’ll likely be seeing more of him in the future.

How old is he?

Mick Dodge is currently 69 years old, so at the doorstep of his eighth decade. However, his healthy lifestyle and constant connection with nature have aided him in maintaining a more youthful image than most people his age possess.

Early Life: His Parents and Education

Mick was raised apparently an only child, initially in his birthplace by his father Ronald L. Dodge, a career marine; details regarding his mother are unknown. He was born in the above-mentioned place where his father resided for a while, as Mick’s grandparents settled in that region many years before his birth. As his father’s job required moving around the country, Mick followed along, thus visiting numerous parts of the US, and also Okinawa, Japan where he attended high school from which he matriculated in 1969. Mick then enlisted in the Marine Corps following his father’s example, and served for six full years. His activities upon being discharged are lost trace until 2014, which makes him an intriguing mystery to most fans.

The question that many ask, but none can answer

When, how and why did Mick begin living off the grid? Nobody seems to have the information required to satisfy the curiosity behind this question, though what helps potentially understand this decision is the fact that he during his six years in the Marine Corps he is likely to have obtained various skills that are pertinent to surviving in nature. Additionally, being a former marine, it’s no wonder that Mick chose a place with high humidity for his new home. According to Mick when asked, he left modern society to relieve and escape the stress that it produced in him. However, that statement doesn’t even begin to cover the answer to this enigma.

His “EarthGym” program

Even though Mick is apparently determined to never again interact with civilization in the way most people do, he is the creator, manager and director of a community called “EarthGym”. According to Mick and Jacquie Chandler, the friend who he joined forces with to inspire this movement, the earth itself is all one needs to keep their body in great shape. The goal behind this program is to show its partakers how to utilize the versatility of soil and other abundances of rainforests to bolster their strength and agility and maintain high stamina. This original take on fitness is not only cost-efficient, but also extremely healthy due to one’s constant connection with nature.

His Nicknames

Mick is not only known for his real name, but also for a number of aliases that most of his co-habitants and fans nowadays recognize, including ‘The Barefoot Sensei’, ‘The Barefoot Nomad’ and ‘The Walking Mountain’. Dodge owes these nicknames to his unique style of living in the rainforest, since he prefers to walk barefoot across all kinds of terrain, instead of protecting his feet from serious dangers, such as small and venomous predators, to name one. The ‘Sensei’ part comes from his history in Japan, since the word is Japanese for ‘master’ or ‘teacher’.

What is Mick Dodge’s Net Worth?

Have you ever wondered how rich Mick Dodge is, as of early 2019? According to various authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the total of Mick’s accumulated wealth is close to $250,000. He made his fortune surviving in a rainforest using nothing but basic tools that can be crafted with materials easily obtained in the outdoors, and on-camera for National Geographic Channel’s “The Legend of Mick Dodge” in 32 episodes from 2014 to 2015. It’s noteworthy that he most likely donates a portion of his income to his abovementioned community. As his career continues to develop, the said amount would seem likely to increase.

Haha! This will give you a good laugh :-). I sent Dr. Zhao in China a short video greeting from me and Mick from the Hoh Rainforest area. I introduced Mick and Dr Zhao last year when he visited WA and they became fast friends/brothers. I love that 2 of my beloved teachers/guides from the East and West are also dear friends!! 🙂
