He’s also worked on numerous other high profile television shows throughout his career.
Early Life and Career BeginningsTrevor was actually raised in nearby Mammoth Lakes, California, but virtually nothing is known about his education or how he came to aspire a career in acting. It is known that one of his first roles was a short stint in the soap opera entitled “Days of Our Lives”, in which he played Jeremy Horton in the longest running scripted television program in the world, known to have featured numerous high-profile actors during their early careers – the character Trevor played was also played previously by Jeremy Allen and Jeffrey Clark. In 2009, he was cast in a minor role in the science fiction film entitled “Surrogates” which stars Bruce Willis, and is based on the comic book series “The Surrogates” which was released from 2005 to 2006. The story revolves around FBI agent Tom Greer as he sets out to investigate the murder of surrogates (human controlled androids).
In 2009, Donovan was cast in his most notable role thus far, as Teddy Montgomery, a recurring character in the series “90210”, the fourth series in the “Beverly Hills, 90210” franchise, which follows the lives of several wealthy students attending West Beverly Hills High School, California, and then their lives as they graduate and move on to work or to college. The show originally revolved around the Wilson family, with other characters being introduced gradually throughout the series. The first seasons notably had appearances from cast members of the original series including Shannen Doherty, Ann Gillespie, and Jennie Garth. However, after the second season the original cast members were rarely mentioned.
Donovan joined the show during the second season premiere as a recurring character, and was upgraded to a regular cast member the following season, but downgraded once more in the fourth. His character had commitment issues with many women, but later comes out as gay and deals with the complications of his sexuality, with his character becoming well-liked by fans especially during the third season. The show ran through five seasons, ending in 2013.
While working on “90210”, Trevor had time for other projects, and was given a role in the film “Savages” by Oliver Stone, a crime thriller based on the novel by Don Winslow of the same name, and starring Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Benicio del Toro and Salma Hayek. Trevor originally had a character in the film who was written out, but due to Stone having an interest in his recordings, a character was written for him that was not in the original book.

With the end of “90210”, he then had another recurring role, this time in the third season of “Melissa & Joey”. The show stars Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence and follows a politician (Hart) hiring someone (Lawrence) to look after her niece and nephew, and was very successful, particularly during the season that Trevor joined the show. However, over time it declined in the ratings, combined with a trend of reduced television network subscribers, and ended in 2015. Other projects have included guest roles in “NCIS” and “Lucifer”, and several television films including the Hallmark film “JL Ranch”, and the SyFy film “Bermuda Tentacles”.
For his personal life, not much is known about Donovan’s romantic relationships as he has not been publicly linked with anyone since the start of his acting career. He is known to have played with punk bands during his youth, and has also won the CBS celebrity ski race multiple times. He mentioned that he sings, plays the guitar, skis and snowboards very well. During some of his free time, he serves as a West Coast Ambassador for the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation, for which he is active in the Speak Truth to Power program. He’s also written and performed songs for films such as “Strawberry Summer” and “Love Finds You In Charm”.
