The Wealth of Twan Kuyper

How rich is Twan Kuyper? As of early-2019, sources estimate a net worth that is over $2 million, earned through success in his various endeavors. He’s collaborated with several other YouTube personalities, and has also earned a significant amount of income from modelling. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.

Early Life and Online Beginnings

There is limited information regarding Twan’s family, childhood, and his education. It is known that he grew up with three other siblings, including a sister who has been featured in a few of his videos. He grew up in the Netherlands, and at a young age developed a strong interest in modelling. He started his modelling career in the Netherlands at the age of 16, appearing on the catwalk, in print campaigns, and various photo shoots.

Wanting to develop his career further, he moved to South Florida in 2013 to look for more opportunities. There he signed with Next Models based in Miami, and would become close to on-line personality Lele Pons who would become his best friend. She introduced him to the app Vine which began his foray into an on-line career. Vine was a short form video hosting service which allowed users to share six second looping clips, and was owned by Twitter, with Vine having its own social network which could be shared with other platforms. The Vine app allowed users to upload videos and browse based on theme or trending categories, and became a strong competitor to other social media services. During its peak it gained around 200 million active users, but was eventually disabled by Twitter, and today only an on-line archive remains of the site’s previously uploaded videos.

Rise to Fame and Transition

Thanks Lele Pons introducing him to Vine, Kuyper gained 80,000 followers on his first day on the app, and his popularity grew significantly over the next few months, reaching a million followers within a week, and before the app shut down he had around two million.

After the app had shut down, he looked for other opportunities to get his on-line career back on track. He began collaborating with content creators from YouTube, and made a guest appearance in Bart Baker’s Fifth Harmony “Worth It” Parody, which gained around 30 million views. The video allowed him the opportunity to try his hand at acting, beginning with the short film “The Broken Record”. He also appeared in the film “Woman on the Edge”, which follows an investigative journalist as she discovers links between recent suicides in her area.

YouTube Channel

In 2015, Twan established his own channel on YouTube, which was the natural transition for many former Vine personalities. The website allowed him to continue his content creation, this time focusing on longer videos that could be up-loaded. The Google-owned website is the second most popular website in the world, and is the  biggest source of user-generated video content. The popularity of the website has allowed it to gain numerous users, along with corporations that have also invested in the platform.

He mainly posts comedy sketch videos which often involved him as the star, and also featured a lot of other popular YouTube personalities including his best friend Lele Pons. Other personalities who have appeared in his channel include Juanpa Zurita, Violet Benson, Neels Visser, Tayler Holder, and Alissa Violet, and his channel has gained over 1.2 million subscribers. He uploads to the website on a regular basis, but a few times each month only, comparably less than other YouTubers, but it is because he is busy with other projects, and because the production of his videos often take time to make.

Personal Life and Social Media

For his personal life, it is known that Kuyper is in a relationship with social media personality London Goheen, and dating since 2017. According to them, they met when he was just starting his career on Vine, and it took some time before the two started dating. The two often post photos of themselves together on social media, and he has even met her parents. However, in recent months he has not posted anything about them, leading many to speculate about their current status.

Before his relationship with London, he was in a relationship with one of his Vine collaborators Hannah Stocking; the two dated in 2016 and stayed together for a year before breaking up. There are also numerous rumors linking him romantically with his best friend and most frequent collaborator Lele Pons – they have posted a lot of content together that have made viewers question the nature of their relationship. In 2017, he posted a long note to his fans denying all the rumors, and clarifying that they are just best friends. Similar to other YouTube personalities, he is active online through accounts on websites such as Instagram and Twitter. He updates his followers regularly on those websites, and has a lot of photos with his YouTube friends.
