Cody Connelly’s Early Life

Cody Connelly was born under the zodiac sign of Virgo, on the 30th August 1987, in New York, USA, the older of two children of Darci Dembeck and Sean Connelly. He has a younger sister named Tylar, and apart from being of American nationality, he is also of white ethnicity. Upon completing his primary education, Cody enrolled at Valley Central High School in Montgomery, New York, from which he matriculated in 2005, then continued his education at the American Motorcycle Institute (AMI).

Cody’s love for motorcycles dates back to the early age of five, when he was given his first bike, a gift from his father, a Honda XR 50. Alongside his father, he learned how to properly maintain and assemble his bike, which certainly deepened his love for building motorcycles.

Cody Connelly’s Career

Cody began his career in the world of custom-made motorcycles in 2001while he was still a high school student, when he joined the Orange County Choppers (OCC) located in the Orange County, New York. As a part of his training and specialization, the tuition fee for his attendance of AMI was paid by the OCC. In 2003, shortly before the “American Chopper” reality TV show premiered on the Discovery Channel, Cody became involved in the building project which soon after earned the nickname “The Cody Project”; the bike was shown at the 2003 Daytona Beach Bike Week, and was featured in the sixth episode of the show’s first season.

Cody was also the lead assembler and fabricator on the OCC’s “Old School” project, which was eventually presented to him as a gift from Paul Teutul Sr. and the Orange County Choppers.

Over the course of the next several years, alongside Vincent ‘Vinnie’ DiMartino as one of the leading assemblers and mechanics, and due to his kind personality and good quality works, Cody found himself among the most popular characters of the show, alongside the key men – Paul Teutul Sr., the founder, owner and the CEO of OCC, and his son Paul Teutul Jr. who served as OCC’s chief designer, during the show.

However, after DiMartino left OCC in August 2007 in order to open his own custom motorcycle building shop, in October 2007 Connelly parted ways with OCC too, and joined his friend and former colleague in his newly founded V-Force Customs shop located in Rock Tavern, New York. Some of their first builds included their debut chopper named “V-Force 1”, as well as a custom bike made for the Arena Football League’s Tampa Bay Storm team from Florida. Cody spent the next couple of years at V-Force Customs, before Vinnie decided to take his shop in a different direction and relaunched it as DiMartino Motorsports.

Connelly’s abrupt departure from OCC was followed by several rather controversial legal issues – he subsequently sued OCC and Paul Teutul Sr. for the illegal usage of his likeness and brand name, as well as for fraud and breach of contract. Allegedly, the above-mentioned “Old School” motorcycle which was presented as a gift to Cody was eventually returned to the OCC and was never given to Connelly. However, four years later, in 2011, the case was settled and the charges were dropped.

In addition to those already mentioned above, Cody Connelly has also made several appearances in the spin-off reality television show “American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior“, which debuted on TLC in August 2010. After the Teutuls split and Teutul Jr. left OCC to launch his own custom bike shop named Paul Jr. Designs, Cody reunited with DiMartino, and together they helped Paul Jr. to establish his company.

After these rather turbulent events and engagements, Cody Connelly decided to distance himself from the world of professionally built custom choppers, and found a regular job at a local utility company, although he still occasionally does some custom works in his own garage.
