Some of her projects during this period included “Class”, “Sixteen Candies”, and “Grandview, USA”. In 1985, she became a cast member of the sketch show “Saturday Night Live”, in which she played several recurring characters including the socially inept Salena, and also did several celebrity impressions, including impressions of Jane Fonda, Brooke Shields and Queen Elizabeth II.

Two years after that role, she lent her voice in the animated film “Toy Story 2” as the character Jessie, and became a part of the “Toy Story” franchise, later reprising her role in “Toy Story 3”. Other projects she had in the next few years included the short-lived sitcom entitled “What About Joan?” which ran from 2001 to 2002, and a role in the film “School of Rock” in which she played head teacher Rosalie “Roz” Mullins.
