Career Beginnings

Merritt began acting professionally in 2006, appearing as a guest in an episode of the television series “Kyle XY”, then had another guest appearance in an episode of “Supernatural”, before finding her first film role in “The Hole’ – the 3D horror film stars Teri Polo and Chris Massoglia.

In 2010, she had a support role in “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief”, before appearing in the television film “Iron Invader”, a science fiction story aired on Syfy and directed by Paul Ziller. She then appeared in the Disney television film “Radio Rebel”, which is based on the novel entitled “Shriking Violet” by Danielle Joseph, co-starring with Nancy Robertson and Debby Ryan. She also appeared in a series of short films and independent films during this period, including “Next Door Nightmare”.

Later Work – Ravenswood and The Royals

In 2013, Patterson was cast in a supporting role in the series “Ravenswood”, but was later recast in one of the main role as Olivia in the supernatural series, a spin-off from “Pretty Little Liars” after the show’s Halloween episode, which actually takes place during the events of the original series. The spin-off drew a lot of media coverage which boosted Patterson into the spotlight however, after low ratings during its first season, the show was eventually cancelled.  Merritt then became a part of the Canadian horror film “Wolves”, released in 2014, but her next major project would be in the 2015 soap opera “The Royals”, which is the first scripted series of the network E1, and follows the lives of fictional royal family members in England; Patterson would stay with the show for a season. After her run there, she then had a guest appearance in the series “Motive”, before getting cast in the second season of “The Art of More” in the role of Olivia Bruckner; the show on Crackle is based on the high stakes world of New York auction houses. One of her latest projects is the film “Unbroken: Path to Redemption” which is a spiritual sequel to the 2014 film “Unbroken”.
