Early Life and Education

First of all, it’s important to mention that Merritt doesn’t have an actual father – she was conceived via a sperm donation as per her mother’s request, and nothing is known about the man that provided it. Her mother (Georgia Wever), however, was a leftist liberal, and wanted her daughter to achieve a deeper understanding of politics, and the way the country works. Thus, she often sent Merritt to various Jewish socialist summer camps, which in a way is where she spent most of her time growing up. Additionally, she was a member of the children’s choir of the Metropolitan Opera. She was educated at Fiorello H. LaGuardia high school from where she matriculated, then, she went on to study at a private liberal arts college in Westchester County NYC, called Sarah Lawrence College, and graduate with a thus-far unknown degree. Upon graduation, she became a regular at one of the NYC acting schools, where she studied the craft for an indefinite amount of time.

Career

She began acting in various off-Broadway plays, such as Brooke Berman’s “Smashing” and Kate Moira Ryan’s “Cavedweller”. She debuted on the TV screen in the movie entitled “Blue River”, in which she had a very small part in 1995. She went on with numerous parts of similar significance further down the road, thus gaining some recognition as well as experience along the way, including an episode of “Law & Order” in 1997, but it wasn’t until 2002 and 2005 that she was re-contracted for two more appearances.  Meantime she was eventually considered and contracted for a few episodes of the big TV hit series entitled “The Wire” in 2003. Finally, in 2009, she got the role of Zoey Barkow in “Nurse Jackie”, in which she appeared for 6 years – from the pilot until the last episode, unquestionably her most famous role to date. Perhaps the best guarantee of her quality as an actor, however, came in 2014, when she landed a role in “Birdman” – an Alexandro Gonzalez Inarritu masterpiece, shot seemingly without a single cut in the entire film, alongside Michael Keaton and Edward Norton, apparently an unprecedented work of art that shook the foundations of cinematography.

Awards and Nominations

Merritt is the proud holder of a Primetime Emmy Award, while she has also received another 10 unrewarded nominations. In 2013, she won her Primetime Emmy Award for the performance she gave throughout Nurse Jackie in 2009. An interesting bit of trivia here is that Merritt actually went to the ER to see how the real job is done while she was preparing for her role. However, she decided to call it quits when she realized her character wasn’t experienced in the profession.

Gay Allegations

Although Merritt herself never said anything that could remotely make her seem gay, there have been rumors concerning her sexuality, the main reason being that between 2015 and 2016 she starred as a lesbian in AMC’s hit TV show entitled “The Walking Dead”. After her character was killed in the story, there were additional rumors claiming that the makers of the show deliberately killed the character due to her sexuality. None of these allegations have been confirmed by anyone, much less Merritt.

Best Speech Ever

Another quality that Merritt is well-known for is the fact that she gave one of the most surprising speeches upon receiving her Primetime Emmy Award. In her own words, ‘Oh, my god, thank you so…thanks so much! Um…thank you so much! Um…I gotta go. Bye.’. The shortness of this speech shocked all of the superstars present that night, but it also left a very unique impression on the public.

What is Merritt Wever’s Net Worth?

Have you ever wondered how rich Merritt Wever is, as of early 2018? According to various authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the current total of Merritt’s accumulated wealth is over $4 million, undoubtedly helped by the numerous roles she’s landed, and so her numerous successes in the world of cinema. As her career is still going strong, this amount is likely to increase.

Body Measurements

Concerning the physical specifications of the aspiring actress, it has been reported by various sources that her height stands at 5 feet 8.5 inches (1.74m) and 163 lbs (74kg). For the moment, her vital statistics remain unknown, as well as any other measurements.

Social Media Presence

Nowadays, numerous TV personalities tend to help both their employers’ and their own business grow by maintaining an engaged audience, and thus their personas are ubiquitous on the commonly used social networks. However, Merritt herself doesn’t seem to be bound to this rule, as she doesn’t have a single official profile on any of the popular social networks, meaning they are either hidden from the public or non-existent.
