The Net Worth of Tamlyn Tomita

How rich is Tamlyn Tomita? As of mid-2018, sources inform us of a net worth that is over $3 million, mostly earned through a successful career in acting since 1986. As she continues her career, it is expected that her wealth will also continue to increase.

Early Life, Education, and Career Beginnings

While Tamlyn was born in Okinawa, her family later moved to California. Her father was a Japanese-American who was interned at Manzanar, California during World War II. He later joined the Los Angeles police force, becoming a sergeant and forming the first Asian Task force; however, her father passed away in 1990 from cancer. Tamlyn attended Granada Hills High School, and prior to becoming an actress, she was active in various pageants.

She would win the Nisei Week Pageant in Los Angeles and Miss Nikkei International held in 1985. She also tried her hand at singing, signing with the label Polydor and releasing a single as well as an album. While travelling as Queen of Nisei Week to Hawaii, she was selected to be a part of a casting call for “The Karate Kid Part II’ which she won, and the film would become her big break, leading to her starring in a number of independent films.

Later Work

Tomita then had a big role in the film “Come See the Paradise” which was released in 1990, and then became a part of the drama “The Joy Luck Club” in which she starred opposite Ming-Na Wen. She also became a part of the independent film “Picture Bride” and the comedy “Four Rooms”, alongside Antonia Banderas. She would go on with roles in more major Hollywood productions including “The Day After Tomorrow” in the role of Janet Tokada, and she also starred in the Brazilian film “Gaijin 2: Love Me As I Am”.

Aside from her film work, she also made regular appearances on television, appearing in the soap opera “Santa Barbara” as the character Ming Li. She also made guest appearances in numerous popular television shows, such as “Seven Days”, “Quantum Leap”, “Murder, She Wrote”, “The Shield”, and “The Mentalist”. Her career has also had recurring roles in shows such as “How to Get Away with Murder”, “Teen Wolf”, and “Law & Order: Los Angeles”. In 2008, she returned to soap operas with a role in “General Hospital”, and later had a recurring role in “Days of Our Lives”.

Recent Projects

In 2016, Tamlyn was cast in regular role in the series “Berlin Station”, which she appeared in for 10 episodes. The following year she became a star of the medical drama “The Good Doctor”, a medical series based on the 2013 South Korean series of the same name. One of her most recent films is “The Good Neighbor”, a thriller film starring James Caan, and she’s also appeared in a few independent projects, including short films such as “Seppuku” and “real Artists”.

Relationships and Marriage

Tomita is one of the actresses who prefer to keep their romantic life out of the spotlight, and as such there have been very few confirmed relationships – in 2006, she was rumored to have been together with fellow actor Greg Watanabe who was her co-star in the film “Only the Brave”, but they died down eventually. Recently, her social media pages showed that she is already married and she posts pictures of her as well as her husband regularly on Instagram. While details of her husband and how they met have not been revealed, many see that they are enjoying a happy relationship.

Tamlyn Tomita on Social Media

Similar to numerous actresses and people in the entertainment industry, Tamlyn is very active on social media through Twitter and Facebook. She uses her accounts as a means to promote some of her recent projects, and connect with her fans. She’s been seen appearing at various events, and continues to connect online with cast members from her most popular films including “The Karate Kid Part II”.

Her Facebook page shows several pictures, including photos of her in the past prior to the time she found popularity as an actress. She can also be seen appearing with fellow cast members of her recent projects, including “The Good Doctor”.
