Dales career was short lived as after two years with the Mystics, she was diagnosed with Raynaud’s phenomenon which is a medical condition where spasm of arteries causes episodes of reduced blood flow in her hands, then causing numbness or pain; she announced her retirement in 2004. However, after a year she returned to professional basketball, and signed with the Chicago Sky who picked her up during the expansion draft of 2006. However, she only played for a year, announcing her retirement from the WNBA for a second time in 2008. During her time in the WNBA, she mainly played in a guard or forward position.Dales then transitioned to a sports broadcasting career, joining ESPN and becoming a college basketball analyst for both men and women. She also became a sideline reporter for college football games. In 2008, she left the network due to contract disputes, specifically because she was denied first class flight privileges during cutbacks. The following year, she joined the NFL Network and would become the co-host of the show “Gameday Morning”, staying on the show for a year as a Gameday reporter on location. Marriage and Personal Life
Shortly after graduating from the University of Oklahoma, in 2002 Stacey married Chris Schuman with whom she was in a relationship through most of college – she even adopted the name Dales-Schuman for a while. However, the differences soon began to surface, and they eventually divorced after her first year in professional basketball, although the reasons for the divorce were never released.
Aside from her marriage, it is known that Stacey also has a brother Burke Dales who played 10 seasons in the Canadian Football League as a punter. He also briefly played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and then continued with the CFL until his retirement in 2014. Her cousin is Jason Arnott, best known for playing a total of 18 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL), with teams such as the Edmonton Oilers, the Dallas Stars, and the Nashville Predators. He is a Stanley Cup winner with the New Jersey Devils.
