This is my serious panelist face. #SDCC2018 was my second Comic-Con and as impossible as it may seem it was even better than the first. A lot of you know that before I was ever an actor, I was a fan. I grew up on movies and comic books, which is why being at Comic-Con is like a literal dream come to life. I spent a lot of time with some amazing people this weekend, friends, colleagues, and artists whose work I have admired for years. Meeting these people, talking with them about our love for sharing stories is more than I ever could have hoped for when I started out. They say don’t meet your heroes. Well I’ve met most of mine, and they’re fucking awesome.
Early Life, Family, and EducationOf Irish and Italian ancestry, Cameron is the son of Caroline and Dana Cuffe. He is one of three children as he has two siblings, Jamie and Alex. Growing up, Cameron fell in love with performing arts and when he was only nine years old made his acting debut, though only as a small boy in the short film “New Year’s Eve”, which starred Keira Knightley, Elizabeth Chadwick and Naomi Allisstone. However, he then focused more on education and didn’t pursue any roles until he held a degree in his hands. Cameron graduated from the Lir National Academy of Dramatic Art in Dublin in 2014.
He then took to acting professionally, firstly on stage, appearing in the play “The Vertical Hour” in 2014, performed at the Park Theatre, and also had a role in the play “City of Angels”, at Donmar Warehouse. In 2015, Cameron returned to screen with the role of Charity Man in the short film “Home Made”.
Rise to ProminenceIt was in 2016 that Cameron first experienced how it feels to be a popular actor. He was chosen for the part of Gino in the biopic about Florence Foster Jenkins, a really poor opera singer, and a New York heiress, entitled “Florence Foster Jenkins”, and starring Meryl Streep, Hugh Grant and Simon Helberg; the film was a complete success, launching young Cameron to stardom, enabling him to secure more roles. In 2017 he was cast in his first recurring role, as William Shannon in the TV war-drama series “The Halcyon”. However, it was in 2018 that he really reached prominence, when he was chosen for the part of Seg-El, in the sci-fi action drama series “Krypton”, which tells the story about Superman’s grandfather, and his fight for his home planet. The event depicted in the show happened around 200 years before Superman’s birth. So far, the season has ten episodes, though it has been renewed for a second season, which will start airing in May 2019.
