Who is Kerri Higuchi?

Kerri Higuchi was born in South Korean, specific date and place unknown, and is an actress, writer, as well as a director, but is perhaps better known for being married to actor John Cho. Her husband is known for playing Harold Lee in the “Harold & Kumar” films, and Hikaru Sulu in the “Star Trek” reboot film series.

Three years later, she had a role in the television series “Grey’s Anatomy”, which follows the lives of surgical residents, interns and attending physicians as they try to tackle various challenges in work as well as in their personal lives. The name of the show is a play on the textbook “Gray’s Anatomy”, and the show became very popular around the world, so elevating many of its stars’ careers, including Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh and Patrick Dempsey.

Later Career

Higuchi’s next project would be the film “Sorority Boys”, in which she had a supporting role. The film follows a group of college boys who dress up as girls to prove that they are innocent, and starred Barry Watson, Harland Williams and Michael Rosenbaum. Following this film, Kerri decided to direct her own film, entitled “Mr. Isaac” and in which she also starred. She also had a guest role in “Parks and Recreation”, which is a sitcom starring Amy Poehler. The series features an ensemble supporting cast including Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt and Jim O’Heir.

She also made an appearance in the 2009 series entitled “Flashforward”, which is an adaptation of the 1999 novel of the same name written by Robert J. Sawyer. The premise of the show is that people globally simultaneously lose consciousness, and peer into visions of their lives six months into the future during an unexplained event. One of her last projects would come the following year in the film entitled “More Things Change”.  Since then, she’s mainly stayed in the background as her husband’s career progressed, and many sources believe that she is focused more on raising her children as opposed to acting.

John’s early work had him appear in a small role in the “American Pie” films as MILF Guy No 2, and helped popularize the widespread usage of the sexual acronym term “MILF”. He then worked on several Asian-American centered films, including “Shopping for Fangs” and “Yellow” which was released in 1998. His popularity increased significantly when he was cast in a lead role in the “Harold and Kumar” films, the series focusing on the two titular characters using marijuana, leading them to various adventures while mostly drugged.

These films proved very successful, and soon more opportunities would open up for him, including being cast in the film series reboot of “Star Trek”, cast as Hikaru Sulu. He also had numerous projects on television, including lead roles in “Off Centre” and “Flashforward”, and recurring roles in shows such as “Difficult People” and “Sleepy Hollow”. He was the first Asian American to be cast in a romantic lead, in the sitcom “Selfie” in 2014, and then also the first Asian American actor to headline a mainstream thriller film, in 2018’s “Searching”, which follows his character as he searches for his missing 16 year-old daughter with the help of a police detective.

Personal Life

For her personal life, it is known that Kerri has been married to John Cho since 2006; they now have two children together, and the family resides in Los Angeles, California, where they were seen publicly supporting the 2012 re-election campaign of US President Barack Obama. The couple also appear together in various red carpet events, mostly to promote her husband’s work.

The couple is very interested in Korean culture, and spends a lot of time promoting their heritage. John has expressed an interest in starring in a film about his father’s generation in North Korea during the Korean War.
