Dana Bash’s Early Life and Education

Dana Ruth Schwartz was born under the zodiac sign of Gemini on the 15th June 1971, in New York City, USA, one of four children in the Reform Jewish family of Frances Weinman Schwartz, who was a Jewish studies’ educator and an author, and Stu Schwartz, who served as the senior broadcast producer of ABC News’ “Good Morning America” show; she is of American nationality and white ethnicity. After matriculating from Pascack Hills High School in Montvale, New Jersey, where she also excelled at sports during her teen years, Dana enrolled at The George Washington University from which she graduated cum laude, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree in political communications. During her studies, she served several internships at broadcast television networks, such as CNN, NBC and CBS.

Right upon graduation, Dana began her professional career by joining CNN in 1993, serving as a producer for the network’s weekend programs, including political talk shows “Evans, Novak, Hunt & Shields”, “Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer” and “Inside Politics”. She was then an assistant journalist as well as CNN’s political correspondent, reporting from Capitol Hill about the matters of the US Congress. Eventually, Dana settled as the network’s chief political correspondent, and specialized in covering the US Senate as well as issues of the US House of Representatives.

In 2000, Dana covered the presidential primaries, and occasionally traveled with big names of the USA’s political scene such as the former Vice President Al Gore and Senator Bill Bradley. She also covered the 2004 Presidential elections as well as the 2006 mid-term elections, and during the 2008 and 2012 presidential election campaigns, Dana served as the CNN’s primary reporter for the Republicans and was also reported on the STOCK Act loophole. In 2014, she was the networks’ main reporter during the midterm election night, while in 2016 Dana was the primary reporter covering the Republican Party’s presidential candidates. Since mid-2017, Dana Bash also hosts the CNN’s television series entitled “Badass Women of Washington with Dana Bash”.
