Where is Luke Russert and what is he doing today?

Luke Russert was born on 22 August 1985, in Washington, D.C., USA, and is a journalist, also known for being the son of journalist Tim Russert and an NBC correspondent. He has also been a part of several other networks over the course of his career.

The Net Worth of Luke Russert

How rich is Luke Russert? As of mid-2018, sources estimate a net worth that is at $9 million, mostly earned through a successful career in journalism, and elevated by his father’s bequest – he died in 2008. As he continues his endeavors, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.

Early Life, Education, and Career Beginnings

While very little information is known about his childhood, it is known that Luke’s father was broadcast journalist Tim Russert, known for being the longest serving moderator for the NBC show “Meet the Press”. He was also the senior vice president of NBC News, and Washington bureau chief prior to his death. He appeared in numerous shows including “Hardball”, “The Today Show”, and “NBC Nightly News”.

Luke looked up to his father, and also began pursuing a similar career. He attended St. Albans School, and after matriculating went to study history and communications at Boston College. He graduated in 2008, and started working at XM Radio for the show “60/20 Sports”, alongside James Carville. He also interned at ESPN as a part of the show “Pardon the Interruption”, and also served as a part of the NBC show “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”. He developed an interest in NBC since his father also worked in the same network.

Father’s Death and Subsequent Work

In 2008, Luke’s father collapsed at the offices of WRC-TV while he was recording voiceovers for the Sunday edition of “Meet the Press”. Paramedics who arrived at the scene attempted to defibrillate his heart three times but he didn’t respond. He was then brought to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 58 years old. Competitors and other services refused to make public announcements of his death until the family was informed; then the news was first broken by retired anchor Tom Brokaw live on NBC, MSNBC, and CNBC. According to a physician, Tim had coronary artery disease that was being treated with medication and exercise.

A few months after his father’s death, Luke was offered a position on NBC as a correspondent for youth issues. He also covered the 2008 presidential election, which led him to win an Emmy Award. Being hired by NBC has caused a bit of controversy in his life, as critics state that he was hired without any prior knowledge but just because of the name of his family. He ignored all the criticisms, and continued working with some distinction, covering Hurricane Irene among many other events.

Leaving NBC

The criticisms of Luke soon died down as he gained experience with NBC. He would stay there for nine years before then announcing his retirement from journalism in 2017, coincidentally just five days before the Republican National Convention, announcing that he was leaving to think about his future, away from political reporting, and to concentrate on endeavors that he has wanted to pursue him for a long time. Prior to announcing his retirement he had already served on numerous shows by NBC, including “Dateline” and “The Briefing”.

Colleagues later remarked that Luke had grown tired of the day to day grind. After leaving the network, social media posts pointed that he started to travel around the world; he also supported various sports teams including the Buffalo Bills, met with several celebrities, and has so far not shown any signs of returning to news any time soon. His mother has also stated that they have travelled the world together, and have visited Latin America, Africa, and Sicily

Personal Life and Social Media

According to various sources, Russert always loved sports and music. He is also a fan of history and politics which led him to flourish in his journalistic career. There have been no details on his romantic life, if he even has a girlfriend or is married. It seems that he prefers to keep that aspect of his life away from the media.

He remains active on social media, particularly Twitter and Instagram, mainly using the latter to promote his ideals and views on politics, and still keeps up to date on the news. He also posts news about watching some of his favorite sports teams. His Instagram page on the other hand showcases him travelling and attending sports events.

I would love to see Luke back on TV. He did well while on TV and would love to see how he feels what’s going on in our Great America. We always enjoyed hearing his father’s views and would think Zluke’s views must be much like his dad’s.

Try to get him back on TVMaybe gave him narrate his own tv program. Thank you for your consideration

I was thrilled to see Luke getting his feet wet & then poof he was gone. I just wanted him to know I watched his dad every Sunday. He was a hoot. Once one of his assistance was have a 3rd baby in 3 years & Tim said “THAT’S WHAT MY DAD WOULD CALL IRISH TRIPLETS”. I watched Luke standing behind his dad’s chair after Tim passed. I miss you Luke. May God watch over you & keep you safe.
