Born Michael Bettes on the 9th January 1972, in Tallmadge, Ohio USA, he is a storm chaser and meteorologist, best known from working for The Weather Channel in Atlanta, Georgia, coming to prominence in 2013 when he was one of several storm chasers struck by the EF5 tornado in El Reno, Oklahoma. Luckily he went uninjured, but his photographer and driver weren’t that lucky.

Mike spent his childhood in his hometown, and after matriculating enrolled at Ohio State University, from which he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in atmospheric sciences.
