Born Stone Stockton Phillips under the sign of Sagittarius on the 2^nd of December 1954 in Texas City, Texas USA, of Scottish descent, Stone Phillips is a 63-year-old Caucasian TV reporter and correspondent. He is perhaps best known for being the former co-anchor of the TV newsmagazine entitled “Dateline NBC.” He has had a number of other positions across various TV stations throughout his career, having been active in the sometimes lucrative reporting business since 1986.

Early Life and Education

Stone was born into a family headed by his father Victor, a veteran of World War II, and his mother, a chemical engineer at Monsanto as well as a school teacher. He was actually raised in the Claymont section of Ballwin, Missouri, with his sister Minta and brother Victor III although their ages are unknown. Stone’s parents were the founding members of the congregation at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Ellisville, Missouri, which Stone attended as a young acolyte. As per his education, Stone attended Parkway West High School in his hometown, where he was an honor student as well as a quarterback on his school’s football team. Career

Unable to find a job in the profession he was interested in, Stone first worked as a remedial reading and math teacher at the Fulton County Juvenile Detention Center, meanwhile also working at night as a waiter. Finally, he landed a reporting job at WXIA-TV in 1978, and two years later was hired by ABC News as an assignment editor for the Washington D.C. bureau. Another two years went by, and he was promoted to the on-air correspondent position, covering crises such as the Lebanon war and Rajiv Gandhi’s election after the assassination of his mother. In 1986, he obtained a regular presence in the ABC newsmagazine “20/20”, at the same time serving as a substitute host for “Good Morning America.” He remained there until 1992, when he joined NBC News as the co-anchor of “Dateline NBC,” where he got to interview some of the most notorious killers, such as Jeffrey Dahmer and Bernhard Goetz. He remained on this position until 2007. His career quieted down for a little bit, but Stone produced and hosted documentaries such as “Moving with Grace” for PBS, until he in 2012 he became a reporting contributor for PBS’ “NewsHour.”
