Emmanuel, of Puerto Rican, Jewish and African-American ancestry, grew up in his hometown, and upon high school matriculation, he enrolled at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, from which he graduated in 1996. He then started his internship at the same University, and once that year was done, Emmanuel continued his education at the University of Pennsylvania Healthcare System, specializing in Orthopedic Surgery.

Sunny is of Puerto Rican ancestry from her mother’s side, and African American through her father, William Cummings, while also having Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry from her maternal grandfather. She grew up in the Bronx, and went to Dominican Academy, thus becoming fluent in Spanish and English. She later obtained a BA degree in English and Rhetoric from Binghamton University, then received her Juris Doctorate degree from Notre Dame Law School.

Career

Sunny started her career in law as a clerk for the Chief Judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals, Robert M  Bell, and then became a trial attorney in the US Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division. However, she left the position to become a federal prosecutor specializing in child sex crimes.

She made her first television appearance on Court TV as a commentator, then received an offer from Fox News to come and join the show “The O’Reilly Factor”, and featured in the segment “Is It Legal?. This lasted from 2007 until 2014, when she started appearing more on ABC, then on Fox News and officially joined ABC News in March 2016 as Senior Legal Correspondent and analyst. Since then, Sunny has become a prominent journalist,  additionally appearing in “The View”, and in “Good Morning America” plus several other news shows, which made her even more popular.
