Rick Petko is a motorcycle mechanic, best known for his appearance in the reality TV series “American Chopper” between 2006 and 2012. He was born on the 11th September 1968, in Bath County, Pennsylvania USA, where he apparently spent his childhood in front of the TV, watching films that included many chopper bikes, as our Rick couldn’t resist their raw power and beauty. As he got older, his love for motorcycles only increased, and so he is what he is now thanks to this early passion. He went to Northampton Area Senior High School, and after matriculating, pursued his love for building bikes and enrolled at NCACC to study welding.

His professional career began when he was rather young, working at Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania in the racing school, and soon after joining the Hooters Pro Cup Team. Gradually his fabricating skills improved, and he found a higher paying job, at Orange County Choppers (OCC).

In 2003 he started appearing in the reality TV series “American Chopper: The Series”, and remained on the show until 2012. During this time, Rick’s net worth increased to a large degree, while his popularity also reached new highs; probably no one would have heard about Rick if it wasn’t for the highly-acclaimed reality TV series. Nevertheless, let’s continue with his life. After leaving OCC in 2012, Rick took some time off, then in 2016 opened his own shop in Poconos, and has since also started working for Pocono Mountain Harley Davidson, owned by Jim Schlier.

Here are some facts about Rick Petko you probably didn’t know:

Rick was a Racer in his Early Years

Once he started watching films with motorcycles in them, he wanted to ride mini bikes, and his parents helped him to fulfill his desire. He actually started with go-karts, but his vehicles grew with him. He raced in three wheelers, four wheelers and finally on dirt bikes. However, in later years his true love for restoring and building prevailed, and he let go of racing.

He Became a Fan Favorite

The moment after his first television appearance, Rick became a fan favorite; when Paul Teutal Sr. and Paul Jr. were not on the screen, Rick was the next big thing. Due to his personality, skills and demonstrated knowledge, he easily had the public hanging on his every word, so gradually Rick became more popular, which earned him contract extensions with the production house and also with OCC.

He Has Built Bikes for Celebrities

During his decade-long stint at OCC, Rick built bikes for a number of celebrities, including Bill Murray, Donald Trump, Carroll Shelby and Lance Armstrong among many others. His vast experience got Jim Schlier confused, after Rick expressed his desire to work for him at the Pocono Mountain Harley Davidson.

Rick is a Wealthy Man

Rick has been doing what he loves from an early age, and now he can boast himself as a rich man. Once he joined OCC in the early 2000s, his net worth started increasing, and after he started appearing on screen, his wealth reached new highs. Let’s look into his net worth and see exactly how rich Rick Petko is. According to authoritative sources, Rick’s net worth is estimated at $1.75 million, as of early 2018.

Rick is a Married Man

The reason he left OCC was the fact that he started a family in Stroudsburg, with his wife, Brittany – their wedding was featured in an episode of the reality TV series “American Chopper: The Series”. His wife and he continued to live in Stroudsburg, and Rick had to travel over an hour and a half to and from his job. As a result, Rick left OCC and decided to start his own shop closer to home. He is also now a father of two daughters, Everly Rose and Lucy Mae.

Paul Teutul Jr. Sought His Services

Once Paul Teutul Jr. and his father Paul Sr. divided into two fractions, and Paul Jr. started his own Paul Jr. Designs company, he sought Rick to join him. However, in contrast to other employees who moved from one company to another, Rick remained loyal to Paul Teutul Sr., and remained at OCC until 2012.

Rick is the Founder of RPD & Co.

In 2016, Rick started his own bike-building company near his home, and has since also joined Jim Schlier at his Pocono Mountain Harley Davidson, also located in Stroudsburg. However, the company has been in constant development and they are now planning a move to Tannersville, Pennsylvania. So it seems that Rick’s future isn’t settled yet.
